Who is whose imaginary friend? All of my artworks are inspired by weathered walls with posters, peeling paint and all kinds of things in dilapidation.
I try to create something new, something beautiful with these elements.
This particular artwork is part of the Collages series. These collages are built up with all kinds of pictures, photos and images that I have collected over the years. I assemble original photography, assorted papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink and pencil in my works. Having always loved the appearance of weathered walls plastered with peeling paint and old posters, I revive this aesthetic with hopefully a keen and professional eye. The creative objective of my work is to “make something beautiful out of dilapidation.”My tableaus explore the dissonance between old and new materials, intertwined in the most beautiful possible way to create dreamlike and melancholy images.

Biografie
Ik verzamel originele fotografie, diverse papiersoorten, acryl, olie, houtskool, inkt en potlood in mijn werken. De verscheidenheid aan middelen die ik kan gebruiken, is voor mij onmisbaar gebleken. De grootste uitdaging die het collagemedium vormde, was het meedogenloze gebrek aan transparantie. Het was voor mij een grote overwinning om een manier te vinden om de effecten van verf, vooral aquarellen, na te bootsen. De voorbereidende arbeid komt tot uiting in mijn collages; laag op laag materiaal blijft zichtbaar in de afgewerkte stukken. Ik geloof dat mijn oeuvre wordt gekenmerkt door mijn vaardigheid om opnieuw uit te vinden. Ik heb altijd genoten van het uiterlijk van verweerde muren, gepleisterd met afbladderende verf en oude posters, en ik herleef deze esthetiek met hopelijk een scherp en professioneel oog. Het creatieve doel van mijn werk is om ‚iets moois te maken van vervallenheid‘.
